Help! I need YOUR wisdom and experience!

...again.

We use plastic grocery bags as liners for all the garbage cans in our house. I've always thought this was a good way to reuse and it means I don't have to buy garbage liners. So now the new craze is to have reusable grocery bags. I like the idea of being green but then what would I use in my garbage cans? Does anyone have a good solution?

...and also...

We want to buy a grain mill. I've been using whole wheat flour in my baking. We love it. It is expensive though. Freshly milled flour retains more of the good stuff. We'd like to buy wheat and grind our own. Does anyone out there in cyberspace have a mill that they love? Do share. Please?

  1. When you run out of garbage bags, just don't take your reusable ones into the grocery store for a couple of trips, and you'll be all stocked up again.

I have the K-Tec Kitchen Mill, which sounds like being inside an airplane engine, but works great and has adjustable grind texture.

  2. I bought a Whispermill from Bread Beckers, also. Works great! I especially like grinding corn for cornbread. Yum.

  3. We do the same thing with our plastic bags. I've thought about the same thing lately too and my thought (if I do switch to reusable bags) will be to just take the house garbage can out to the outside can and dump it. I know I would probably need to rinse it out once a week to get rid of any smell, but that is what I might do. On the other hand, if that doesn't work, I don't know what to do!!!
